BMW targeted sales numbers of 100,000 electric vehicles for 2017, and the company have now confirmed they have reached this goal.
In 2016 they managed to sell just over 60,000, so 2017 shows an approximate 60% increase. Sales are expected to rise yet again in 2018, although admittedly not as steep a rise.
The BMW i3 spearheaded the sales, alongside the Active Tourer 2 Series. The automaker is planning to offer a dozen electric vehicles to their fleet by 2025.
The fact a pillar in the vehicle industry is expanding their electric vehicle operations at such a rapid pace, indicates that the electric vehicle sector is gaining incredible momentum as we enter 2018.
