Domestic Electrical Installer

Whether you have no experience and want to change your career or are a current tradesperson wanting to add to your skillset, our 25 day Domestic Electrical Installer course will give you the skills and qualifications to join the electrical revolution happening in the UK.
Updates for 2021
From April 2021 the Domestic Installer course will include some programme changes. The qualification may be required as one of the prerequisite when joining a Competent Persons Schemes such as NAPIT. Domestic Installers who have two years+ more electrical experience and have completed the Domestic Installer course will have a pathway to joining a Competent Persons scheme domestically.
The Building Regulations 2393-10 with be replaced by the LCL DEI award, which meets the requirements for a Domestic Installer Scheme through Certification Bodies such as NAPIT. There will also be the option to sit either the level 2 or 3 Inspection & Testing qualification.
The 25-day course consists of:
10 days LCL DEi Award.
Electrical principles and safety single phase & Domestic installation workshop. The first 10 days will be both classroom and workshop based this will cover: Safe working practice; Earthing; Installation of a ring main; Radial Circuit; Lighting Circuit; Consumer Unit testing; Safe isolation; Different types of cable including armoured cable.
5 Day 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
City & Guilds 2382-18 (L3). This course is all classroom based the exam will be held on the afternoon of the last day. This is a 2hr open book exam.
7 Day Inspection & Testing.
City & Guilds 2392-10 (L2) or 2391-52(L3) This course covers both theory and practical training with a 1hr 40 min 50 question closed book online exam and a up to 2hr Practical exam. This is open book. From April 2021 candidates will have the choice between the level 2 or level 3 qualification.
3 Day Electrical Vehicle charging (EV).
City & Guilds 2919-01 (L3). This course covers all the key skills to install, fault find and inspect and test electric vehicle charging points. This course covers both classroom and workshop i.e. armoured cable and earthing rods. 1Hr online exam and up to 3 hr practical exam.

Who Should Attend?
This course is aimed at new entrants to the electrical and EV industry. No formal qualifications are need to join the course, although you will be required to undertake a Math's & English assessment to determine suitability. If a candidate wishes to join a Competent Persons Scheme, then a minimum of two years electrical installation experience is required.
